MEET JOANNA,

I’m an abstract painter and educator based on Scotland’s East Coast, where shifting light, sea, and sky shape my work.

My paintings are inspired by nature, emotion, and transformation — each piece offering a quiet moment of stillness in an ever-moving world.

My creative process is rooted in mixed media. I work intuitively with oils, acrylics, inks, pastels, and textiles, layering textures and allowing each painting to evolve naturally. I’m drawn to the contrast between softness and ruggedness — like sunlight catching on stormy seafoam.

Painting is my way of slowing down. It brings calm and joy — a space to reconnect with beauty, solitude, and self. As a mother and evolving artist, my work reflects a period of becoming, exploring what it means to awaken to new layers of identity and creativity..

Why Collect My Work

My paintings are collected by those drawn to calm, atmospheric work that brings depth and quiet presence into a space.

Each piece is created to live with you — to offer softness, movement, and a sense of pause within everyday life.

The work is especially suited to considered interiors, reflective homes, and collectors who value emotion as much as form.

The Awakening Collection

Awakening is my newest body of work. It was born during long walks along the East Lothian coast — moments where sea air, shifting skies, and quiet offered space to feel, soften, and emerge.

This collection explores the transformation of becoming a mother: the tenderness and strength that exist side by side, and the deep listening that happens both within the landscape and the self.

Each painting in Awakening carries a sense of movement and stillness — inspired by tidal rhythms, changing light, and the textures of raw, honest becoming.

I invite you to explore this collection and see what awakens in you.
